Regular Stalls
We hold regular stalls every Saturday in Leeds City Centre to give out information about various animal rights issues to members of the public and raise awareness about vivisection, the meat industry, fur and more. Mid-Week stalls are also held, so if you want to get involved please get in touch.
Leafleting
Regular leafleting is done in Leeds City Centre to raise awareness and support various animal rights campaigns.
Demonstrations
Demonstrations are held against shops selling fur, companies involved in animal testing and other issues which arise locally, such as grouse shooting. These have proved highly effective, with a number of stores ending their sale of real fur and others ending involvement in vivisection.
Hunt Sabbing
Most weekends we join up with other local groups and attend local hunt meets, with the aim of disrupting the bloodsports and directly save the lives of hunted animals. This is achieved using items such as citronella spray to cover the animals’ scent, mimicking the horn calls of the hunt master so as to distract the hounds and other tactics which have proved highly effective. Meetings
Regular meetings to discuss animal rights in the West Yorkshire area and updates with campaigns are held. The details will be announced soon.
A.R. Film Showings
Film showing nights are organised on a regular basis at local venues. The films shown are about various exposés inside places of animal abuse, such as laboratories and factory farms, but also of actions aimed at stopping cruelty. Vegan food, cakes and refreshments are also always on sale. Get in contact if you would like to come along and we will let you know when the next film showing is.
Undercover Investigations
Undercover investigations are an important part of our campaigning work. WYAR activists go to sites of animal cruelty and document what is happening; for example filming the animals inside factory farms, zoos, being hunted or shot and being transported for slaughter. Through these investigations, we gain press coverage, support for our campaigns to stop animal abuse and try to get those conducting the cruelty prosecuted.
